Florentine-style Affogato with Baileys
Taste an Italian summer, from the comfort of your own home. We’ve taken inspiration from the Florentine-style Affogato, a dessert coffee that pairs a strong espresso with a creamy gelato. Pour in a drizzle of Baileys, for the sweetest final touch. Perfetto!
Ingredients
Directions
- STEP ONE
To start, place your gelato in the bottom half of a cappuccino cup and freeze. If you would like to try to create the iconic Florentine-style affogato shape, make sure to only fill halfway.
- STEP TWO
To make the iconic Florentine-style affogato shape, warm up a pallet knife with hot water. The key is to use a utensil that has a flat edge. With your pallet knife, scoop out some ice cream and scrape it along the edge of your cappuccino cup, repeat this 4 times until the circumference of the cup is covered. This should create a well in the middle of the cup for the liquid. For a simpler version, fill your cappuccino cup with a little more gelato, freeze and then use a hot spoon to spoon out a well in the middle for the liquid.
- STEP THREE
Place your cappuccino cup full of gelato under your coffee machine and add one shot of espresso followed quickly by a creamy splash of delicious Baileys. Grab a spoon and enjoy! We know you can’t resist.
